Looking back at over 2 decades of working in the circular economy, there are already many sustainable projects and outcomes that my teams and I have achieved which I feel proud of. However, there was something missing, a piece of the jigsaw that I just could not find… an itch that needed to be scratched. Becoming a parent changed my perspective overnight, and highlighted, in big luminous spot lights, ‘the opportunity cost of time’. The evening ritual of reading #childrensbooks / #picturebooks to Albie led to such infectious laughter that it became my #inspiration to write my own children’s book. To leave a #legacy (even if it’s only a small one) and an heirloom to be passed on should he decide to have a family one day himself. Well it is amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it, focus and make the time for it. After many manuscript rewrites, learning about the publishing industry the hard way, writing my own contracts, and sourcing an amazing #illustrator (Lesley Vamos), I am so chuffed to share with you my first ever front cover of my first book ‘Disgusting Justin’. I can’t wait for the book to be finalised, and be dedicated to its inspiration, our son’s infectious laughter… which will leave some form of legacy I hope he will be proud of one day, as well as creating many magical moments of laughter between parents / care givers and their children.
